SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 checksums of a file.

## What it does

Checksums verify that a download or build artefact arrived intact. Choose a file and the browser hashes it locally with Web Crypto. The file is never uploaded and no filename leaves the page.

## How to use

1. Choose a local file.
2. Pick the hash algorithm.
3. Copy the checksum and compare it with the published value.

## FAQ

### Is the file uploaded?

No. The browser reads the bytes locally and computes the digest in the tab.

### How large can the file be?

It depends on available browser memory because the file is read into an ArrayBuffer. Common multi-gigabyte files may be slow.

### Which algorithm should I use?

SHA-256 is the usual default. SHA-512 is fine too; SHA-1 is legacy only.
