## What it does

Semantic Versioning encodes compatibility: major for breaking changes, minor for features, patch for fixes. This tool validates a version, compares it with another and suggests the next release numbers.

## FAQ

### How is prerelease precedence calculated?

SemVer compares dot-separated identifiers: numeric identifiers numerically, text identifiers lexically, and a prerelease is lower than the release.

### Are leading zeros allowed?

No. Major, minor and patch must be non-negative integers without leading zeros.

### Is build metadata compared?

No. Build metadata after + is ignored for precedence.
