What this tool does
Base32 uses A–Z and 2–7, trading compactness for case-insensitive safety. It appears in TOTP secrets, DNSSEC and identifiers that must survive case changes. This converter handles UTF-8 and optional padding.
How to use it
- Choose encode or decode.
- Paste the text and toggle padding if needed.
- Copy the result or swap it back into the input.
Questions
Base32 or Base64?
Base32 is longer but case-insensitive and avoids ambiguous characters. Base64 is shorter but case-sensitive.
Should I keep padding?
Keep it for RFC-strict systems. Many TOTP secrets omit the = padding and decoders accept both.
