What this tool does
A slug is the readable part of a URL. This generator transliterates accents, removes punctuation and emoji, collapses separators and lowercases the result so it works in paths, filenames and SEO-friendly URLs.
How to use it
- Paste a title or phrase.
- Choose the separator and case.
- Copy the slug.
Questions
What happens to accented letters?
They are normalised to their ASCII base: caffè becomes caffe.
What about Chinese or Arabic text?
This generator keeps Latin alphanumerics; scripts without a simple ASCII transliteration are stripped. Use a locale-aware slugger for those.
Should I remove stopwords from slugs?
Only when the slug stays readable. Short, meaningful slugs usually beat artificially shortened ones.
