What this tool does
A ULID is 26 characters of Crockford Base32: a 48-bit millisecond timestamp followed by 80 random bits. Unlike UUID v4, ULIDs sort lexicographically by creation time, which keeps database indexes happy.
How to use it
- Choose how many ULIDs you need.
- Generate the batch.
- Copy or download the list.
Questions
ULID or UUID v7?
Both are time-sortable. ULIDs are shorter as text (26 characters) and easier to read; UUIDs have wider library support.
Are ULIDs case-sensitive?
The canonical form is uppercase. Crockford Base32 decoding is case-insensitive.
Can two ULIDs collide?
The 80 random bits make collisions negligible, even inside the same millisecond.
